Opportunity A logistics & delivery company was challenged with demand forecasting and frequently found themselves scheduling delivery routes in a knowingly inefficient manner due to time constraints.
Services Performed We analyzed order location, order content history, and delivery cost data to determine if an algorithm could be developed to help the company more efficiently schedule deliveries.
Outcome We determined that the company was, at times, so inefficiently routing deliveries that they were actually losing money on some orders. Although this is largely a fulfillment issue, we helped the company turn it into a sales opportunity!
By determining the actual cost per delivery, we helped the company design an incentive program that they could offer to customers during their ordering process – if they chose a delivery timeframe that would be cost advantageous to the company, they would receive a discount on their order.
